Global Excellence in Operations

In a world of intensified competition, operational excellence is a must. However, based on our annual benchmarking events and the numerous lean transformation engagements in the last couple of years, we know that manufacturing at many companies is still at the beginning of the journey to reduce waste. Benchmarking data from our Factory of the Year research indicates that only 20 percent of plants can be called good or excellent. In many plants, the opportunity for double-digit, year-over-year productivity improvement is not yet optimized.

The competition Factory of the Year/GEO Award is a joint initiative of A.T. Kearney and the business journal Produktion. Our objective is to identify and award excellence in operations of manufacturing companies. Firms can participate with a plant or with an operating unit. There is no cost to participate.

The GEO AWARDS operations competition is based on a comprehensive assessment of key performance dimensions:

  • Value generation
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Economics
  • Quality
  • Agility
  • Innovation

For more information and the questionnaire, visit the Factory of the Year/GEO website: www.geo-award.com.

A German version of the questionnaire is available on request: www.geo-award.de.
