Reinventing Banking
Seven avenues for banks to capitalize on the current crisis
In the aftermath of the crash of 2008, banks are searching for answers. How did we get here, certainly, but more importantly, where do we go now? This paper presents seven possible avenues to rebuild the banking industry. Some of the ideas are the result of lessons learned from the recent crisis: improving risk management, restoring trust. Others are older ideas whose time has come—affinity-based products, creative marketing, modular IT—as it often takes a crisis to make real change possible. It is our hope that by following these suggestions, the financial industry can possibly create a sound banking system once again.
