Outsourcing Among Pharmaceutical and Biotech Firms

From February to September 2004, A.T. Kearney sponsored a research study by CFO Research Services (a unit of CFO Publishing Corp.) to explore outsourcing priorities and trends at large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Through a series of in-depth interviews with senior finance executives at pharmaceutical and biotech companies, we sought to investigate and understand if such companies view outsourcing as an opportunity to improve their financial and operating performance. Equally important, the study examined the risks executives consider when evaluating the merits of outsourcing their business processes. This report presents our research findings.
