He has been advising C-level executives of leading telecom operators, media groups and equipment manufacturers across a broad spectrum of strategic issues, supporting clients in improving operational performance and achieving profitable growth.

Claudio Campanini

CLAUDIO CAMPANINI is a Partner of A.T. Kearney and one of the leaders of the firm’s Communications and High Tech practice, based in the firm’s Milan office. Mr. Campanini has more than 15 years consulting experience with top-tier international clients in telecommunications and media, utilities and consumer goods industries. He has led major assignments in the fields of strategy, organization, marketing, start-up of operations, restructuring, partnership and joint venture development. Prior to joining A.T. Kearney in 1994, Mr. Campanini was product manager at Italtel, a leading telecommunication equipment manufacturer, from 1991 to 1993. Mr. Campanini received a B.A. degree in electronic engineering from Politecnico of Milan in 1990 and an MBA. from INSEAD business school in 1994.

Mark Evans

MARK EVANS was appointed CFO of Vodafone Group Technology in 2009, after his positions as CFO in Ireland and the UK. He joined Vodafone in 2001 as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. Prior to that, Mr. Evans spent 7 years with NTL (now Virgin Media) where he held a number of positions including Group Financial Controller. He also spent four years with Johnson and Johnson where he trained and qualified. Mr. Evans is a qualified chartered management accountant, holding an Accounting BSc from Southampton University.

Axel Freyberg

AXEL FREYBERG is a Partner, Leader of Communications & High Tech Practice Central Europe and member of the management team of A.T. Kearney and has supported mainly European companies in the Telecommunications and High-tech industry for more than 14 years. After completing his Master of Computer Science degree at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, he obtained a MBA at the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Mr. Freyberg speaks regularly at international conferences, publishes articles in various publications and is elected member of the research committee of the Münchener Kreises.

FAISAL GALARIA

Faisal Galaria

FAISAL GALARIA brings nearly 15 years of experience from consumer internet, media, regulatory and professional services to the role. He joined Spotify from the travel site Kayak where he was Managing Director, International and responsible for launching the site in nine countries. Previously Mr. Galaria was General Manager of Jaman and before that Director for Europe at a little start-up called Skype. At Spotify, he is helping with international expansion, building partnerships and distribution. Mr. Galaria is an ex-athlete and enjoys outdoor sports especially scuba diving. Back indoors he is an avid film fan and particularly enjoys international and festival award winning films.

Thor Halvorsen

THOR HALVORSEN is Executive Vice President in Region Central and Eastern Europe of Telenor ASA and Director of several companies in Norway and internationally. He has served in several Executive Management positions in Telenor, including as Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Networks from 1995 to 1998, as Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Business Solutions and as Executive Vice President of Telenor Mobile International responsible for global Mobile operations. Prior to 1993, he was responsible for sales activities, product management, R&D and various technical activities both in the fixed and mobile networks. Mr. Halvorsen holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications and Computer Science) from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim, Norway and studied Management Development at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and at IMD in Switzerland.

Michael Hecker

MICHAEL HECKER joined MTS in May 2006. He currently serves as Vice President for Strategy and Corporate Development. Prior to joining MTS, Mr. Hecker worked at A.T. Kearney Europe from 2000-2006, focusing on strategy, marketing and finance in European telecommunications and consumer goods industries. Prior to that, he worked as a Junior Lawyer in Berlin and Brandenburg. He is a graduate in International Politics and Administration of the Pierre Mendès France University of Grenoble and a graduate in Law and Modern History of the University of Göttingen, where he holds a PhD in Constitutional History.

BERTRAND LE GUERN who is 41 years old and a graduate of the ESTACA Engineering School, was until now COO for NETIA, the leading Polish alternative telecoms operator. During his career, he has successively held different positions in Poland, notably that of COO for Centertel (cell phone operator), followed by TP (France Télécom), from 2001 to 2004.

He was the vice president for Western Europe at France Telecom. Prior to that he held executive positions at Orange, France Telecom and Cable & Wireless in Africa and Middle East, Australia and Europe.

MARK PAGE is the global leader of A.T. Kearney’s Communications, Media and High Tech practice, as well as the lead for the practice’s operations in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. A partner in the London Office, he specialises in serving large telecommunications clients on a range of strategic, organisational, technological, and regulatory issues, bringing 18 years of sector expertise. His clients include some of the largest mobile and fixed-line operators in Europe and Africa, as well as media companies and industry associations. Mr. Page was a founding member of the Board of Directors that oversaw the return to private ownership via management buyout of A.T. Kearney in 2006; he chaired the board’s Compensation and Election committees for several years. Educated at Cambridge University and Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, he previously worked in the telecommunications sector in Germany and Austria.

Gavin Patterson

GAVIN PATTERSON was appointed Chief Executive of BT Retail on June 1st 2008. He joined BT in 2004 as Managing Director of BT Retail’s consumer division. In this role he has been responsible for all services to BT’s 15 million residential customers. Under his leadership BT has become the UK’s number one broadband provider with more than 4.7 million customers. He has launched innovative new products including BT Total Broadband and BT Vision while transforming the financial performance of the division. Prior to joining BT, Mr. Patterson was managing director for Telewest’s consumer division with turnover of £950m. He spent four years with the company which he joined as marketing director for telephone and internet services. Before Telewest, Mr. Patterson was at Procter & Gamble where he was European marketing director for the company’s third largest brand, Pantene. Gavin is a fellow of the Marketing Society and a member of The Marketing Group of Great Britain and The Thirty Club. He went to school in Warrington and Yeovil before graduating from Emmanuel College, Cambridge with an Engineering degree. He is 42 years old, and is married with four young children. His other passion in life is Liverpool FC.

GERT RIEDER joined Batelco in April 2009 to lead the Bahrain operation of the Batelco Group, as part of the Company’s restructure to manage the growing needs of the organisation. Prior to that he was Senior Advisor for ENEX Finance SA, a Private Equity company based in Switzerland. Mr. Rieder has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications business. Starting in 1987, he held various roles and executive positions within TDC. In 1997, he joined Sunrise Communications as Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Executive Team. In 2001 he was promoted to COO Sunrise Mobile and member of the Executive Management Board. From 2004 until 2008 Mr. Rieder was Executive Vice President for TDC Residential and member of the Executive Team in TDC Solutions as well as Chairman of the Board in Call Center Europe. He holds an Executive MBA (INSEAD, France) plus an MBA from the business school in Aarhus, Denmark and is fluent in English, Danish and German.

FRANÇOIS-XAVIER ROGER joined Millicom in September 2008 from Groupe Danone where he served as Vice-President Corporate Finance since 2006 and previously as Chief Financial Officer for Danone Asia from 2000 to 2005. Prior to this he worked at Aventis and at Hoechst Marion Roussel, where he managed businesses for Hoechst in Asia, Africa and Latin America. He majored in Marketing for his MBA at The Ohio State University and has a Masters degree in Major Accounting from Audencia Business School in France.

RAOUL ROVERATO, 39, is Executive Vice-President in charge of New Growth Businesses at Orange/France Telecom group. He is in particular in charge of Orange/France Telecom’s developments in digital content (worldwide IPTV leader with 3.4M subscribers, mobile TV leader with more than 3M active users) and Internet portals (first European player with 64M unique visitors/month on Orange properties, 14M unique visitors/month on Orange mobile portal, and 180M unique visitors/month on Orange ad network). Previously, Mr. Roverato spent 14 years in Orange/France Telecom, first in the B2B branch, then between 2004 and 2008 as Chief of Staff of Didier Lombard, Orange/France Telecom’s Chairman and CEO. He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST).
