Sean Monahan
Sean Monahan is a partner with A.T. Kearney and the Americas leader for the Supply Chain Management practice. With over 20 years of industry and management consulting experience, he works with clients in addressing strategy, integration and performance improvement with particular focus on supply chain management and manufacturing. While specializing in consumer products, his experience cuts across multiple industries, including retail, pharmaceutical, paper and packaging, agri-products, textiles, chemicals, automotive, and consumer electronics.
Representative engagements include:
- Led the evaluation, pilot and implementation of end-to-end collaboration initiatives for a leading global retailer and consumer products manufacturer
- For one of the largest global beverage companies, led the development of a new distribution strategy based on dynamic product and market characteristics—implementation enabled expansion of product portfolio to support growth agenda in new categories
- Led the development of global manufacturing strategy for leading global beauty company, with the strategy reflecting focus on core competencies and development of forward looking make vs. buy model
- For a leading consumer products manufacturer, led the implementation of asset productivity improvements across multiple sites in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific— improvements drove a 30% increase in effective capacity and $100 million in annual benefits while avoiding $200 million in planned capital investments
- For a global consumer products company, led the integration of three separate North American business units into a single supply chain organization, encompassing manufacturing, procurement, distribution, customer service and engineering
- For a global chemicals company preparing to carve out several related business units, conducted a comprehensive assessment of supply chain processes, organization, systems and costs, including development of a new center-led organization model to lead implementation of best practice processes (order management, demand planning, inventory management, production planning) and detailed an eighteen-month roadmap to capture 9% operating cost savings and 25% reduction in working capital
While in industry, Sean was Vice President of Operations for a privately held agri-business where he had responsibility for manufacturing, procurement, logistics, customer service, engineering, sales, IT and financial administration.
Sean holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University and an M.B.A. (Logistics & Operations) from George Washington University.
He is a former Board Member of the North American Chapter of the Supply-Chain Council, author of several operations-related monographs, and speaker and track chair at industry conferences. Sean also serves as lead partner for the New York office.
