GALA — Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender alliance at A.T. Kearney

GALA supports the distinctive employment needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender A.T. Kearney employees. The organization focuses on recruiting, developing, and retaining exceptionally talented individuals.

Members of GALA create and support a work environment that allows professionals to be themselves, feel accepted in the workplace, and develop and advance professionally. The group not only includes GLBT employees but also allies who support the network in developing an even more diverse and accepting workplace.

Firm support

A.T. Kearney’s senior leadership actively supports GALA initiatives, plus members serve on the A.T. Kearney Diversity Council to influence the strategic direction of diversity initiatives in the firm.

John Yoshimura, Global Chief Operating Officer
"Diversity and collegial respect for others is part of our culture. It is not only important for creating a healthy and positive environment in our company but for our success in client service and achieving our vision as a company. We are a group of people who strive to add value for our clients and provide tangible results to help them improve. To do this most effectively, it is important that our consultants can be themselves and feel comfortable without encountering prejudice or discrimination, and that they can develop and progress in our organization irrespective of race, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression. Like all aspects of diversity, I strongly believe in and support GLBT workplace equality."

Recruiting events

Through a variety of national events, A.T. Kearney and GALA members support students and the broader community, who are interested in consulting.

ReachingOut LGBT MBA Conference
A.T. Kearney is a sponsor of this annual event, which includes GALA members from across the U.S., who participate in the career expo and serve on panels about GLBT life in corporate America and consulting. The event provides an opportunity for us to conduct first round interviews for exceptional, full-time student candidates. Potential candidates learn about the firm and get to know some members.

MBA Diversity Events
A.T. Kearney is the national partner for diversity outreach efforts with potential M.B.A. students in the GLBT communities of four top U.S. schools: Kellogg, Columbia, Harvard and Stanford. In Europe, we are working with leading business schools such as Insead and are present at the London Diversity Career Show conference, which targets LGBT undergraduate and M.B.A. students in association with Stonewall.

We host events in our local offices for faculty, students, alumni, and admissions staff, providing networking opportunities with firm partners and consultants at all levels.

Recruiting school events
As part of the firm's ongoing recruiting at our core schools, GALA sponsors and participates in diversity events to build relationships with GLBT students in M.B.A. and B.A. degree programs.

Career development

GALA works with firm leaders, HR, and Training & Development on policies and programs that help consultants develop their skills and advance professionally. GALA members include consultants at all levels, in various industry and service practices, and on a wide variety of challenging projects, providing client value and developing intellectual capital.
