Consultant Spotlight
Fabio Fera
Manager in São Paulo
Looking out the window from his office at Unilever, Fabio Fera felt the need for a change. Although he studied Engineering at university, his career took another direction—spending nine years in Marketing at Unilever. Starting as an intern, he was now a Senior Marketing Manager and by all accounts his career was exciting. He worked on a variety of projects in the Personal Care categories, including the global re-launch of Luxe in more than 30 countries, and spent eight months with Unilever in Argentina on secundment in support of the Luxe re-launch. Still, he was eager for a new challenge.
Fabio knew about consulting and was intrigued by the industry. His friends in the consulting industry advised him to attend business school, and then pursue consulting. But Fabio knew there had to be another option, especially given his real-world experience. He was familiar with A.T. Kearney from his days at university, and a colleague—Silvana Machado—had recently joined the firm. Fabio decided to take a leap of faith and reach out to Silvana, sharing his CV with her.
Three years later, Fabio is a Manager in the São Paulo office and has worked in a variety of industries, including consumer and retail, financial institutions and energy. He has thoroughly enjoyed the career change and has successfully leveraged his marketing experience to progress quickly within the firm.
When he’s not serving clients, Fabio enjoys playing soccer, tennis and handball with friends—sports he played while in school. His A.T. Kearney soccer team recently competed in the A.T. Kearney World Cup, getting to the final rounds before losing to the Germany team. The A.T. Kearney soccer team also competes locally against other consultancies, and their still working on winning the tournament locally.
Fabio and his wife of five years, Karina, spend most of their time on weekends raising their beautiful daughter. “I want to have four kids,” he explains, “but I’m in negotiations with my wife on this one!” Maybe the skills he’s picked up since joining the firm will pay off!
