Bernhard Heinz Hartmann has 13 years of consulting and industry experience with utility, engineering, pharmaceutical, and oil & gas industries in Europe, Asia and U.S.A., with a strong focus on efficiency improvement and strategy implementation.

Bernhard’s expertise is in business process reengineering, M&A, post-merger integration, cooperate organization structure, cost structure analysis, materials management, and strategy development.

• Selection of an international strategic partner (products and distribution) for a Chinese pharmaceutical company
• Development of a business model and investment plan for an international hospital in China
• Due diligence in China for private equity firms and corporations, including logistics industry, meat packaging, language schools
• Entry strategy into the Chinese aluminum market for a U.S.-based company
• Economic site evaluation for a Chinese provincial government in preparation for investment in a major amusement park
• Acquisition strategy for a global engineering company, focusing on technology for water/waste water industry (market analysis, target selection, due diligence, PMI)
• Global market-entry strategy for fuel cells for a German technology company, including a business-planning tool

Prior to joining A.T. Kearney, Bernhard worked in reservoir quality studies for BEB Erdgas und Erdöl, Germany; Petroleum Development Oman, Oman; and Mobil Erdgas-Erdöl GmbH, Germany. He also worked for NAGRA, Switzerland, related to radioactive waste disposal, and was an industrial merchant for Pirelli AG, Germany.

Bernhard has a PhD in Geology (Dr. rer. nat.) from Universität Bern, an M.B.A. from Universität Würzburg, and a B.S. in geology from Universität Würzburg/ University of Texas at Austin.
